USAINS SIGNS MOU WITH MALAYSIAN COMPANY PENSONIC TO ADVANCE INDUSTRY-DRIVEN TRAINING INITIATIVES
15 JUNE 2024, SIMPANG EMPAT, PENANG – USAINS, the corporate arm of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) established in 1998, has partnered with PENSONIC, a leading Malaysian firm, to bolster industry-focused training and skills enhancement programs. This collaboration underscores USAINS' commitment to leveraging USM’s academic prowess and centres of excellence for impactful training initiatives.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU), ceremoniously signed on July 15th at the PENSONIC Global Office in Penang, marks a significant step in fostering mutual growth. Mr. Farid Wajidi Mat Yusoff, Group Managing Director of USAINS Holding, and Mr. Dixon Chew Chuon Jin, PENSONIC Group Chief Executive Officer, sealed the agreement, outlining strategic areas of cooperation. These include research collaborations, development training for staff (HRDF claimable), initiatives supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, and USAINS's; involvement in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
Harnessing USM's academic and technical expertise, USAINS will develop and deliver specialized training modules in engineering, language proficiency, communication, mental health, and leadership. These tailored programs aim to meet PENSONIC’s expanding needs across Southeast Asia, particularly as the company prepares to launch new products in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and other regional markets via online platforms.
The signing ceremony attracted nearly 200 guests, including distinguished guests such as His Excellency Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Haji Abdul Razak, TYT of the State of Penang; Tan Sri Dr. Sulaiman Mahmob, Chairman of MIDA; Dato’ Seri Dr. Awang Adek Hussin, Chairman of the Board of Governors USM; and Professor Dato’ Seri Dr. Ir. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, Vice-Chancellor USM. The event also featured the debut of two innovative products: a portable vacuum cleaner and a 3-in-1 air purifier, slated for release across Malaysia and Southeast Asia on July 15th, 2024.
